Kapu: In a tragic indient, a female staff of Kapu police station hanged herself in the police quarters. The incident came to light early on Saturday morning.

The deceased, identified as Jyoti (28), a native of Bagalkote, was found hanging. Reports indicate that Jyoti had returned home after her shift on Friday night and was discovered by authorities on Saturday morning.

Jyoti's husband, who works for KSRTC, had already left for work when the incident occurred. Following the discovery, Additional Superintendent of Police Siddhalingappa, DySP Arvinda Kalagujhi, and Kapu Tehsildar Pratibha R. visited the scene to conduct an investigation.

While the exact cause of Jyoti's death remains unknown, authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding her tragic demise. Kapu MLA Abdul Qader is also present at the scene, with more details expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.

Chennai (PTI): Veteran leader of the CPI, R Nallakannu died here on Wednesday, the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital said.

He was aged about 101, party sources said.

A hospital bulletin said, despite intensive care, he passed away at 1.55 PM on February 25, 2026 following failure of all vital organs.
