Karwar: The Karwar Rural Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Chakravarty Sulibele, the founder of Yuva Brigade, for allegedly making derogatory statements about Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during his recent visit to the taluk.

Sulibele, who visited a temple at Bovivada in Kadavada village of Karwar taluk as part of the 'Janaganamana Abhiyana,' addressed reporters during the event. He remarked that Hindus in the state face challenges whenever Siddaramaiah comes to power, while Muslims enjoy a greater sense of security.

The Karwar Rural Police took serious note of Sulibele's statement, especially considering recent tense situations in Shivamogga. Consequently, they initiated a suo motu case against him, charging him with making derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister and statements that could potentially create animosity between communities.

The FIR has been booked under Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to statements conducing to public mischief.

Reacting to the FIR, Sulibele expressed his thoughts on his X account (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “Another FIR against me for talking to the media about the government. I just said Hindus suffer whenever Siddaramaiah comes to power... what’s wrong with that? Should I provide more evidence for it? I will do it then..”

Ranchi (PTI): A 60-year-old security guard of a temple in Ranchi was bludgeoned to death with a stone during a robbery attempt, police said on Saturday.

The incident happened late on Thursday at the Jagannath Temple in the Dhurwa Smart City area, they said.

"Three persons were arrested on Friday for killing the security guard. They confessed to the crime and told police that the victim had identified them. Therefore, in fear of being caught, they killed him by attacking him with a stone on his head," SSP Rakesh Ranjan said.

"Thereafter, they took money from the donation box and fled the scene. Two of them have criminal antecedents," he added.

Ranjan said the investigators recovered Rs 3 lakh in cash that had been robbed, the stone with blood-stained marks, and the iron rod used to break open the lock of the donation box kept there.

An FIR in this regard was lodged at the Dhurwa police station, he said, adding that the accused were sent to judicial custody by a court.
