Mangaluru: A fire broke out in a plywood factory located in the Baikampady Industrial Area on Sunday morning, resulting in destruction of plywood worth approximately Rs 1 crore.

The fire reportedly was the outcome of a short circuit at the Akolite Industrial Systems Private Limited, owned by Razak.

No fatality has been reported as the accident occurred in the morning and the workers were yet to arrive at the factory.

Four fire tenders of the Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF), the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) and the fire brigade were sent to the factory and the personnel successfully doused the flames.

Panambur Police visited the accident site and held an inspection.

Istanbul (AP): A gunfight erupted outside a building housing the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul on Tuesday, leaving two assailants dead and a police officer wounded, Turkiye's Haberturk broadcaster reported.

The report said attackers were carrying long-barreled weapons. An exchange of fire with police killed two, while a third assailant was captured. One officer sustained injuries during the clash.

The area surrounding the building was quickly sealed off.
