Panambur: A fire broke out early this morning at a poultry and seafood manufacturing plant in the Baikampadi industrial area, resulting in significant losses estimated at several crores of rupees.

The incident occurred at the Shihar Enterprises factory at around 4:45 am, quickly engulfing the entire facility. Eight fire tenders from MRPL and NMPT rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames. After three and a half hours of relentless efforts, the firefighters managed to bring the fire under control. However, by that time, the factory had suffered extensive damage.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit. The estimated loss from the incident is believed to be around Rs. 3 crores.

Puttur: In a tragic incident late Saturday night, an auto rickshaw returning from Madikeri to Puttur, after completing Lok Sabha election duties, collided with a KSRTC bus near Mukrampadi on the Mani Mysore National Highway. The collision claimed the life of the auto-rickshaw driver, identified as Jaison (30).

The collision occurred around 2 am when the bus heading towards Puttur collided with the rickshaw travelling in the opposite direction. The impact was severe, resulting in the complete crushing of the rickshaw, with Jaison trapped inside.

Despite the efforts of the fire service, he succumbed to his injuries before being extracted from the wreckage.
