Mangaluru: The former Chairman of Bharath Cooperative bank, founding president of the Billava’s Mahamandal and Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple’s Developmental Committee president, Mulki Jaya C Suvarna (82) passed away in Java Mumbai on Wednesday morning.

The Mangalore-based hotelier in Mumbai, Jaya C Suvarna had been greatly involved in Social, educational, and religious activities. As the president of the Mumbai Bharath cooperative Bank, he was the epitome of progress. A close friend of the former Minister B Janardhan Poojary, he held good rapport and bond with all communities.

He has also established the Billava’s Manor (Bhavan) in Mumbai and the Mahamandal Bhavan (Council Manor) at Mulki.

The last rites of the deceased will be conducted on Wednesday, 21 October at 3 pm in Mumbai. He is survived by his wife and four sons.

Bengaluru, Apr 26: BJP leader CT Ravi was on Friday booked for allegedly promoting hatred and enmity between citizens through his social media post, the Election Commission said.

The action was initiated by the election officials of Chikkamagaluru, they said.

Taking to 'X', the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer said Chikkamagaluru election Officials have booked an FIR against CT Ravi for his post on X for violation under the Representation of the People Act and 505(2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) of the Indian Penal Code in Basavanahalli police station for allegedly promoting hatred and enmity between different classes of citizens.
