Mangaluru: Police have arrested four accused in connection with the murder of an 8-year-old girl on the premises of the Tiles Factory in Parari near Ulaibettu. In a press conference, the city police Commissioner N. Shashikumar said “The arrested have been accused of rape and murder of the minor girl”, he informed.

The accused have been identified as Jai Singh (21), Mukesh Singh (20), Manish Tirki (33), and Muneesh Singh (20).

Reportedly, Jai Singh, Mukesh Singh, and Manish Tirki were working as labourers at the Tiles Factory in Parari, while Muneesh Singh was working as a daily wage labourer at Puttur. The four of them are friends, it is learned. While three of the accused are originally residents of Penna District in Madhya Pradesh, one of them is a resident of Ranchi in Jharkhand. The police commissioner revealed that among the accused, two of them are 22-year-olds, one of them is a 21-year-old and another accused is 33-years of age.

Revealing the details about the horrendous crime, the Police commissioner said, “On November 21, the accused abducted the 8-year-old minor who was playing outside on the compound of the Tiles Factory. Afterward, the accused raped the minor and strangled her to death”, he said.

DCPs Hariram Shankar, Dinesh Kumar, ACP Ranjit Bhandaru, and Ravish Nayak were present at the press conference.

Mumbai (PTI): The Mumbai police have registered a case against a man for allegedly duping seven persons of Rs 91 lakhs on the promise of awarding them works of different government departments, an official said on Tuesday.

The accused was identified as Satish Kadam, a resident of Nanded in Marathwada region, an official said.

A complaint was filed by Hanumant Vadje, who alleged that the accused cheated him and six others of around Rs 91 lakh by promising to give them various works of Urban Development and Social Justice Department, he said.

The fraud occurred between 2024 and 2026, with Kadam collecting money in cash and into his accounts, police said, adding he had returned some amount to them partially.

Multiple cheques issued by the accused bounced, prompting the victim to lodge a complaint at the Marine Drive police station. Based on the complaint, a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust was registered against him.

The case is under further investigation, the official said.
