Mangaluru: A case has been registered at Pandeshwar police station against the organizers of a rights rally held near the town hall on Tuesday, marking National Street Vendors’ Day. The event, led by the Street Vendors’ Association under the honorary presidency of B.K. Imtiaz, was conducted despite prior warnings from the police regarding venue and timing restrictions.

Authorities had issued a notice advising Imtiaz to change the location and timing of the rights rally to prevent potential law and order issues. However, the organizers proceeded with the gathering near the town hall, where they reportedly formed a group, displayed Communist Party flags, and raised slogans, causing inconvenience to pedestrians.

The police have alleged that the rally violated the conditions mentioned in the notice, resulting in charges against Imtiaz and others involved. The case accuses them of forming an unauthorized assembly with the intention of creating a disturbance.
