Heavy rainfall: Uttara Kannada district under Orange alert, holidays extended to schools, colleges
Karwar: In the backdrop of continuous heavy rain in Coastal Karnataka over the last few days and the forecast of more rain for the week, Uttara Kannada Deputy Commission on Wednesday has extended the holiday to schools and colleges in the district till July 7, 2022.
According to the order issued by the DC, the district was under Orange alert and the move to extend the holiday for schools and colleges till July 7 was precautionary and was taken considering the safety of the students.
The Meteorological Department has forecast more rain in Coastal Karnataka for July 7, 2022.
All the Anganwadis, Primary Schools, High Schools, and Colleges will remain closed on July 7, 2022, the order stated.

Mystery shrouds death of student in Bengaluru found at home with her throat and wrist slit
Bengaluru: Mystery shrouded the death of a young woman who was found with her throat and wrist slit on Wednesday.
Prabhudhya (21), who was studying in second PUC, lived with her mother and brother. She was found dead in the bathroom of her house in Subrahmanyapura on Wednesday evening with her throat and wrist slit, police said.
The incident came to light around 7 pm on Wednesday.

The PUC student is said to have died of excess bleeding.
Bengaluru South Division DCP Lokesh B Jagalasar said an investigation is on and would cover all aspects of the incident.
