Heavy rains in Coastal Karnataka: Colleges and Schools to remain closed on Aug 7 in Uttara Kannada
Karwar: Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. K Harish Kumar on Tuesday declared holiday to all the colleges and schools in the District including degree colleges on Wednesday August 7.
The order came in the wake of continuous rain Coastal Karnataka is witnessing for last couple of days and is expected to continue for a few more days.
Earlier, District Administrations of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada had also announced one-day holiday to all the colleges and schools in their respective Districts due to rain.

Yogish Goudar murder case: Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, 16 others sentenced to life imprisonment

Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives has sentenced Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 16 others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogish Goudar.
The verdict was delivered by judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat. The court had earlier, on Wednesday, held all 17 accused guilty of murdering Goudar, while reserving the quantum of punishment.
On Friday, the court pronounced the sentence, awarding life imprisonment to all the convicted persons in the case.
Yogish Goudar, a BJP member from the Hebballi Zilla Panchayat constituency in Dharwad district, was murdered in 2016.
