Udupi: Owing to the continuous rainfall in the District, the Udupi District Administration on Tuesday announced holiday to all schools and colleges on August 7.
The order was issued by Udupi Deputy Commissioner Hepsiba Rani Korlapati on Tuesday afternoon.
Coastal Karnataka is witnessing continuous rain in the region from last couple of days. At several places schools and colleges had declared holiday on Tuesday.
The DC also declared three-day red alert on August 7,8 and 9 in the District as more rain is forecasted in the region.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil had earlier in the day declared red alert in the District for August 7 and 8.

Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives has sentenced Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 16 others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogish Goudar.
The verdict was delivered by judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat. The court had earlier, on Wednesday, held all 17 accused guilty of murdering Goudar, while reserving the quantum of punishment.
On Friday, the court pronounced the sentence, awarding life imprisonment to all the convicted persons in the case.
Yogish Goudar, a BJP member from the Hebballi Zilla Panchayat constituency in Dharwad district, was murdered in 2016.
