Udupi: In response to the persistent heavy rainfall and the red alert forecast by the Meteorological Department, the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district has taken precautionary measures and declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Tuesday, July 25th.

All Anganwadi centers, primary schools, high schools, and pre-university colleges in the district will remain closed, an order from the office of the Deputy Commissioner stated.

The decision comes as coastal Karnataka, including districts like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada, continues to witness record-breaking downpours over the past few days. The red alert issued by the meteorological department has raised concerns about potential flooding and safety hazards in the region.

Beirut, Nov 26: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he will recommend a proposal for a cease-fire with Hezbollah to his Cabinet for approval, setting the stage for an end to nearly 14 months of fighting.

Netanyahu said the vote was expected later Tuesday. It was not immediately clear when the ceasefire would go into effect, and the exact terms of the deal were not released. The deal does not affect Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza, which shows no signs of ending.
