Ullal: Increasing tidal activity in the seas near Someshwara, Uchila and Battapadi has reportedly put more than 30 houses in danger near the sea, locals informed.

The sea was 250 meters away 5 years ago. However, with each passing year, the sea has slowly neared the residential area by the shores, where it breaks waves close to the homes, it is learned. As the road has been encroached by the sea, the residents in the region have lost transportation means to reach outer regions, they said.

Since Thursday morning, waves of extreme magnitude have been breaking on the shores, uprooting coconut trees and dragging them to sea. Several structures near the area are in danger of being washed away by the sea, it is learned.
