Horrible accident in Uppala: Talapady KC Road’s 5 killed
8 severely injured
Manjeshwara: Five persons including three women were killed and eight others injured in a horrific accident between a lorry and Toofan jeep at 6 am today at Nayabazar in Uppala on NH 66.
All the deceased have been identified as the residents of KC Road near Talapady.
The deceased have been identified as Bibi Fatima (65), Asma (30), Naseema (38), Mustak (41) and Imtiaz (35); all residents of Ajjinadka Samanige near KC Road. The dead bodies have been shifted to the mortuary in Mangalpadi CHC. The eight seriously injured persons have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
It has been said that the accident took place when the commuters in the jeep were returning after attending an opening ceremony of a house in Palakkad. A lorry proceeding towards Kasargod rammed into the jeep near Nayabazar. Lorry’s tyre burst is said to be the main reason behind the accident.

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
