Mangaluru: Demanding to provide the stipend, house surgeons and PG students serving at Wenlock hospital today staged a dharna in front of the hospital.
"The 51 house surgeons and 38 PG students, who were taken by the government to serve at the hospital, were getting their monthly stipend until 2017. But we are not getting the stipend for the last eight months. We urged the Chief Minister, the Education Minister, the Health Minister and the Deputy Commissioner to pay the fund; but in vain," the protesters outraged.
The Wenlock Hospital superintendent Rajeshwari Devi', who arrived at the spot, said that the government will be convinced about the issue. He also promised that the hospital will try to solve the problem. Following which, the protesting doctors withdrew their protest and warned of an indefinite strike from November 1 if the issue does not get resolved.
Prasad MB and Ujwal Suvarna lead the protest.
