Mangaluru: The Indian Design School (IDS) successfully hosted the inaugural "Innovids Design Fest" on the 29th and 30th of May 2023. This inter-college design festival, focused on interior design, marked a significant milestone for the design community in Mangaluru.
The IDS Design Fest witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 100 students from various colleges in and around Mangaluru. The event aimed to showcase the students' creativity and skills through a series of exciting and fun-filled competitions. The festival was meticulously organized by the students of IDS, who dedicated months to preparations for the event.
The festival featured a range of competitions such as Tech Couture, Hand Pixel, Art Fusion, Zero Heat Cuisine, and more, which brought out the best of the participants' talents. The IDS campus was abuzz with the vibrant energy and creativity of the students throughout the festival.
The IDS Design Fest was followed by the momentous Graduation Day ceremony for the batch of 2019 on Wednesday, 31st May 2023, starting at 10:00 am. The ceremony commenced with a tree-planting ceremony by esteemed guests and Chairman Ar. Mohammed Nissar. Ar. Mohammed Nissar warmly welcomed the gathering, which included distinguished guests Dr. Akther Husain (Professor Emeritus, Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics), Dr. Moksha Naik (Principal, K.V.G Dental College, Sullia), and Dr. Kishori Nayak K (Professor, Mangalore University).
The guests delivered inspirational talks, encouraging and appreciating the graduates for their accomplishments. Dr. Akther Husain, along with the graduates, took the graduation pledge, following which the graduates received their convocation certificates from the dignitaries. The college magazine was also unveiled by the esteemed guests during the ceremony.
The Graduation Day ceremony was accompanied by the prestigious "Interior Design Wow Awards" (IDWA). IDWA is a platform that recognizes excellence in design work that goes beyond the practical purpose of buildings. The awards encompass the works of both professionals and design students.
The event honored the winners of the IDS Design Fest, who were acknowledged for their outstanding performance. Ar. Chethan Kamath graced the occasion as the guest of honor. The IDWA ceremony also featured the presentation of the "Lifetime Achievement Award" to Mr. Hasan Yusuf, who was recognized for his remarkable 43-year service and is currently serving as the CAO at The Shepherds International Academy. Ar. Chethan Kamath, along with Chairman Ar. Mohammed Nissar and Ar. Ramnath Nayak, presented the award to Mr. Hasan Yusuf. Additionally, Salim Malik, a staff member of IDS, was also honored during the ceremony.
Ar. Chethan Kamath captivated the audience with a visual presentation of his work and delivered words of encouragement to the students. The ceremony concluded with the felicitation of IDS students for their exceptional performance during the academic year 2022-2023, followed by the announcement of the winners of the Innovids Fest 2023.

Jerusalem (PTI): India and Israel on Thursday elevated their "time-tested" relationship to a special strategic partnership and agreed to soon firm up a "mutually beneficial" free trade deal even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly backed the Gaza peace initiative, asserting that humanity must never become a victim of conflict.
Following talks between Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, the two sides inked a plethora of agreements to expand cooperation in areas of trade, agriculture, energy, cyberspace and digital payment.
India and Israel also vowed to expand their already close defence partnership by working towards joint development and joint production of military hardware under the framework of the transfer of technologies.
In his media statement, Modi said India's security interest is linked to peace and stability in the Middle East, adding that New Delhi fully supports the Gaza Peace Initiative.
"India's stance is clear: humanity must never become a victim of conflict. A path to peace has been created through the Gaza Peace Plan. India has fully supported these efforts," he said.
"In the future as well, we will continue dialogue and cooperation with all countries," he said.
PM Modi landed in Israel on Wednesday on a two-day visit. It is his second visit to Israel in nine years.
In his remarks, the prime minister said India and Israel have a united view that there is no place for terrorism in the world and both sides stand shoulder-to-shoulder in countering terrorism and its supporters.
"Our relationship is founded on the strong bedrock of deep trust, shared democratic values, and human sensitivities. Our bond has stood the test of every trial of time," he said.
"Today, we have taken the historic decision to elevate our time-tested partnership to the status of a 'Special Strategic Partnership'," he said.
The prime minister also announced the establishment of an India-Israel critical and emerging technologies partnership to impart a new momentum for cooperation in areas of artificial intelligence, quantum, and critical minerals. "I am pleased that an agreement has been reached for the use of UPI in Israel," he said.
The prime minister, referring to the threat of terrorism, said India and Israel will continue to confront the menace unitedly.
"India and Israel are completely clear that there is no place for terrorism in the world. In any form, in any expression, terrorism cannot be accepted," he said.
"We have stood shoulder-to-shoulder in opposing terrorism and its supporters, and we will continue to do so," he added.
India and Israel also discussed the implementation of the India-Middle East Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and cooperation under the framework of I2U2 (India-Israel-UAE-USA).
