Mangaluru: The BJP’s Rafale deal scam, which has caused the loss of Rs 41,205 crore to the country's treasury, must be probed through Joint Parliamentary Committee. This contract of the BJP-led central government is against the policy of transparent governance, stated Jaiveer Shergill, the media panelist of Indian National Congress. He was addressing a press meet at Dakshina Kannada District Congress office at Mangaluru on Monday.

As per the UPA government’s International Bid opened on December 12, 2012; 108 aircraft were scheduled to be manufactured at HAL and transfer of technology from France. During this time, the cost of 36 aircraft was fixed at Rs. 18,940 crore.

After the BJP-led NDA government came to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Paris in 2015 and announced to purchase 36 aircrafts at a cost of Rs 41,205 crore more, according to a release from The Reliance Defence. The prime minister, who is allergic to answer and accountability, did not give a proper answer to buying the aircraft from France by paying 1670 crore when the deal was finalised at Rs. 526 crore.

Violation of procurement Procedure

“Permission has to be taken from the Defense Procurement Committee, Prize Negotiating Committee (PNC), and Cabinet Committee on Security. PM Modi has violated all procurement laws in the country to ease his friends,” he charged.

loss to Karnataka

“Rafale deal has caused a huge loss  to Karnataka. It did encounter Make in India and possibilities of employment generation in the state. As per an agreement signed on March 13, 2014; the Rafale aircraft were scheduled to be manufactured in India through the transfer of technology from France. HAL was supposed to get a contract of Rs. 30,000 crore. But PM Modi snatched away that contract and gave it to Reliance. On what basis the Modi government discarded the experienced HAL and gave the contract to Reliance,” Shergill asked.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to purchase 36 aircrafts unilaterally on April 10, 2015, is an example of encouraging his capitalist friends, " Jaiveer Shergill said.

AICC media convenor Sanjay Singh, district spokesperson Vinay Raj, TK Sudhir, Neeraj Pal and others were present.

Prayagraj (PTI): The Allahabad High Court has set aside a lower court order mandating a man to pay maintenance to his estranged wife, observing that she earns her living and did not reveal the true salary in her affidavit.

Justice Madan Pal Singh also allowed a criminal revision petition filed by the man, Ankit Saha.

"A perusal of the impugned judgment indicates that in the affidavit filed before the trial court, the opposite party herself admitted that she is a post-graduate and a web designer by qualification. She is working as a senior sales coordinator in a company and getting a salary of Rs 34,000 per month," the court said in the December 3 order.

"But in her cross-examination, she has admitted that she was earning Rs 36,000 per month. Such an amount for a wife who has no other liability cannot be said to be meagre; whereas the man has the responsibility of maintaining his aged parents and other social obligations," it observed.

The high court observed that the woman was not entitled to get any maintenance from her husband "as she is an earning lady and able to maintain herself".

The man's counsel argued in court that the estranged wife did not reveal the whole truth in the affidavit.

"She claimed herself to be an illiterate and unemployed woman. When the document filed by the man was shown to her before the trial court, she admitted her income during cross-examination. Thus, it is clear that she did not come before the trial court with clean hands," the counsel submitted.

The court, in its order, said, "Cases of those litigants who have no regard for the truth and those who indulge in suppressing material facts need to be thrown out of the court."

It impugned the lower court's February 17 judgment and order, passed by the principal judge of a family court in Gautam Buddh Nagar and allowed the criminal revision petition filed by the man.
