Mangaluru bus coming from Mumbai catches fire on National Highway in Karwar
Karwar: In an incident that reportedly occurred on early Thursday morning, a private bus caught fire on the road resulting in the bus being engulfed in flames, burning the vehicle down near Jodakere in Yellapur at Uttara Kannada district.
The private bus was coming from Mumbai and enroute to Mangaluru with 22 passengers on board. The bus is said to have caught fire due to a technical defect, and the timely action taken by the driver to vacate the passengers has fortunately helped save their lives.
The Fire Brigade services arrived on the site and put out the fire, it is learned. The incident is said to have occurred in the jurisdiction of the Yellapur police station.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visits BEML unit in Bengaluru
Bengaluru (PTI): Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday visited the BEML unit in Bengaluru and reviewed the progress of activities there.
Vaishnaw, who is the Minister for Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, as well as Information and Broadcasting, also held discussions with the senior officials and staff of BEML, PIB Karnataka said in a post on 'X'.
The Minister inspected the railway coaches being manufactured and received information from the officials regarding the progress of the work, it added.
