Kasargod, June 07: A 22-year-old scooter rider was killed after sustaining severe injuries when a KSRTC bus hit his vehicle on Thursday morning near Uduma Railway Gate on the State Highway.
The deceased has been identified as Naveen, a resident of Nadukkal and a hotel employee.
The accident occurred when Kerala’s KSRTC bus, which was proceeding from Kottarkara to Kolluru, collided with Naveen’s scooter when he was going for hotel work this morning.
It has been reported that Naveen died on the spot following the accident. Bekal police have seized the bus which took the life of a young man.

The NSS Unit of BIT, in association with the Boliyar Village Panchayat and under the banner of Brahat Swachata Abhiyan , successfully conducted a Community Clean-Up Drive on 26th November 2024 at Boliyar Village.
The event aimed to spread legal awareness about maintaining a clean and healthy environment and emphasized the fundamental duty of protecting and improving the same. The initiative was supported by key stakeholders, including the President of Boliyar Village Panchayat, the Panchayat Development Officer (PDO), the SBI Foundation, NGOs such as Hasiru Dala Mangalore and Sanjeevini Okkuta, as well as local social workers.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Abdul Shakur, President of Boliyar Village, who welcomed all participants and quoted "let's unite for a brighter tomorrow, starting with cleaner Boliyar today " The program commenced with Mrs. Sudharani Doddamani, PDO of Boliyar Village, leading the gathering in an oath by reading the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. The Secretary of the Panchayat, Mrs. Chithrakshi, was also present to witness the event.
Dr. S.I. Manjur Basha, Principal of BIT, provided encouragement and ensured all necessary facilities and resources for the drive. Dr. Mohamed Kafeel Delvi, NSS Program Officer, guided and monitored the volunteers while advising them on the importance of segregating waste into wet, solid, and hazardous categories.
The NSS volunteers actively participated in cleaning Panchayat roads, community areas, the Bus Stop Junction, and clearing trash from village streets, temples, playgrounds, and vacant spots. Their dedication highlighted the spirit of community service and the importance of environmental sustainability.
The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, marking the success of a meaningful and impactful initiative.
