Kasaragod District Congress Committee General Secretary Vinod Kumar passes away
Kasaragod: General Secretary of the Kasaragod District Congress Committee Vinod Kumar died at a private hospital in Mavunkal in Kasaragod district on Wednesday morning. He was 48.
Vinod Kumar was immediately taken to hospital after he collapsed at home all of a sudden, but could not be saved in spite of the efforts of the medical staff at the hospital as he failed to respond to the treatment. The reason for his collapse is yet to be confirmed, said the doctors.
A resident of Pullur, Vinod Kumar had entered active politics as a member of the Kerala Students Union (KSU). He had also been the President of the Kasaragod district unit of the Youth Congress before being appointed as General Secretary of the Kasaragod District Congress Committee.

India lost a prominent public figure: President Murmu on Shivraj Patil's demise
New Delhi (PTI): President Droupadi Murmu on Friday condoled the death of former Union minister Shivraj Patil, saying the country has lost a prominent public figure.
Senior Congress leader and former Union home minister Patil passed away at his home in Maharashtra's Latur on Friday morning after a brief illness, family sources said. He was 90.
"In the demise of senior political leader Shri Shivraj Patil Ji, we have lost a prominent public figure. During his long public life, he held many important positions including those of Lok Sabha Speaker, Union Minister, Governor and longstanding Member of Parliament. My heartfelt condolences to his family, well-wishers and admirers," Murmu said in a post on X.
