Kasaragod: In an incident that reportedly occurred on Monday night, a fight between brothers ended in murder near Perla’s Sheni Uppalige. 

The murder victim has been identified as Thomas D’Souza (45), a resident of Uppalige. The police have revealed that the victim was allegedly murdered by his brother Rajesh (37). 

The incident is said to have occurred around 10 pm on Monday. An individual named Wilfred who had tried to stop the fight between the brothers had also sustained injuries, it is learned.

Reportedly, the fight between the brothers escalated into a disaster after Rajesh stabbed Thomas. Hearing the screams from their household, the neighbours had arrived to find Thomas lying in a pool of blood, and taken him to the Kasaragod hospital. Despite this, Thomas couldn’t be saved, it is learned. Rajesh has reportedly surrendered himself at the Badiyadka police station.

Manipal: The Manipal police arrested two accused within 11 hours of registering a bike theft case following a swift investigation.

The accused have been identified as Sharath (26) and Ganesh (31), residents of Netaji Nagar in 80 Badagabettu village.

According to police, a complaint was filed after a motorcycle belonging to Sudarshan was stolen on February 21. The bike had been parked near Veera Maruti Bhajana Mandir in Rahul Nagar, Badagabettu village.

According to the complaint, police traced and arrested the accused and recovered the stolen motorcycle from their possession. The duo was later produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police said over 11 theft cases have been registered against the accused at various police stations, including Manipal, Udupi City, Bhadravati, Koppa, Thirthahalli, Madikeri and Tumakuru.

Further investigation is under way.
