Udupi: The silence of the BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders regarding a case of a Sangh Parivar member filming a woman taking a bath in Pakshikere, Mulki town, has drawn criticism from KPCC spokesperson Veronica Cornelio. In a recent press release, Cornelio pointed out the contrasting reactions of these leaders, who were vocal about an alleged video filmed in the washroom of an Udupi paramedical college, but remained silent on the incident involving one of their own members.

Questioning their approach, Cornelio highlighted that while the BJP often emphasizes the worship of women as deities, their response appears to be influenced by the religion and caste of the accused when protesting against mistreatment of women. She urged the BJP leaders to recognize that the victim in the Mulki case who was being filmed by a Sangh Parivar activist while taking bath is also a girl, and in other instances, such as the Dalit minor who was a victim of gang rape in Vitla, the perpetrators belonged to the Sangh Parivar.

Drawing attention to the disparate treatment of such cases, Cornelio accused the leaders of demonstrating double standards and hypocrisy in their response to incidents of ill-treatment of women.

New Delhi: Celebrations commenced outside the Congress headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday morning, even before the counting of votes began for the state elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.

Confident of forming the government in Haryana, Congress supporters gathered outside the party office, waving flags and dancing to the beats of dhol.

Exit polls have predicted that the Congress is likely to secure 55 out of 90 seats in Haryana, surpassing the halfway mark of 46. Meanwhile, the INDIA alliance is expected to perform well in Jammu and Kashmir. However, with exit polls often missing the mark, the final outcome remains to be seen.
