Mangaluru: KSRTC Bus services in Dakshina Kannada are likely to remain unaffected even as several organizations have called for observing a bandh to support the protests of farmers against the farm bills passed in parliament last week.

A state-wide bandh would be observed in Karnataka on Monday by various farmers’ organizations, protesting the amendments to the APMC and land reforms acts made by the BS Yediyurappa government.

The dawn-to-dusk bandh call has been supported by several pro-Kannada and other outfits besides the opposition Congress and the JD(S), who had opposed the amendment bills in the assembly.

The officials of KSRTC in Dakshina Kannada confirmed that their bus services will continue as usual while the private buses services are also likely to continue as usual in the district.

DK District Bus Owners Association President Dilraj Alva also confirmed that city buses and private buses will operate as usual in the district on Monday.

Bengaluru: In a move against the central government, the Congress party in Karnataka staged a sit-in protest today, demanding the immediate release of drought relief funds for the state.

Led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, along with other cabinet members and MLAs, the protest took place in front of the Gandhi statue at Vidhana Soudhain Bengaluru.

The BJP-led government under Prime Minister Modi has come under fire for alleged delays in disbursing much-needed relief funds to Karnataka, which is grappling with the devastating effects of drought.

Accusing the central government of injustice, particularly towards the state's farmers, the Congress leaders emphasized the urgent necessity of assistance for affected communities.
