Kundapur: In a heart wrenching incident that took place on Saturday (February 2) a four year-old boy was rammed by a goods tempo, while he was standing beside the road near Janata colony, near Siddapur in Kundapur Taluka.

The deceased kid is identified as Anshik (4), who had come to Kundapur along with his family to attend a wedding. Anshik was the second of the two sons of Raghavendra and Pavitra of Konandoor Kontehole, in Thirthahalli Taluka, of Shivamoga district.

During their visit for the wedding, to mark the occasion Anshik’s fourth birthday, the family visited Mandarthi temple, while returning from the temple, the family got down from the bus near Janata Colony to meet another relative. The incident took place as Anshik was standing beside the road, waiting to cross it, after getting down.

A goods tempo carrying food and grains to Beltangady rammed into Anshik beside the road, who sustained to his injuries on the spot.

Personnel of Shankarnarayana police station rushed to the spot and conducted initial investigations at the spot and took the truck and its driver into the custody.

The body of the child was handed over to the family after post-mortem.

Tehran: The office of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei “as a great crime” and vowed to respond, according to a statement from his office, Al Jazeera reported.

The statement stated that, “this great crime will never remain unanswered and will turn a new page in the history of the Islamic world and Shiism. The pure blood of this high-ranking leader will flow like a roaring spring and will eradicate American-Zionist oppression and crime.”

“This time too, with all our strength and determination, and with the support of the Islamic nation and the free people of the world, we will make the perpetrators and commanders of this great crime regret it,” it added.

Pezeshkian also declared seven days of public holidays in addition to the 40 days of mourning.
