Kundapur: Woman dies in tragic fall from fifth-floor apartment
Kundapur: A tragic incident occurred near Old Gitanjali Talkies on the city's main road, where a woman lost her life after accidentally falling from the fifth floor of an apartment.
The deceased, identified as Lakshmi Pratap Naik (41), wife of Lakshmi Pratap, met with the fatal accident on Sunday around 7 pm. She had gone to retrieve coconuts left to dry on the floor of the flat when she accidentally stepped on a fibre sheet, causing it to collapse and resulting in her fall to the second floor. Unfortunately, she succumbed to severe head injuries at the spot itself. The deceased is survived by her husband and two sons.
The Kundapur town police station has registered a case regarding the incident.

CPI stalwart Nallakannu dead
Chennai (PTI): Veteran leader of the CPI, R Nallakannu died here on Wednesday, the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital said.
He was aged about 101, party sources said.
A hospital bulletin said, despite intensive care, he passed away at 1.55 PM on February 25, 2026 following failure of all vital organs.
