Belthangady: Heavy rain in the taluk has led to a landslide at Charmadi Ghat, causing a major traffic jam.
A hill collapsed near the tenth turn of Charmadi Ghat, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded for hours. The incident occurred during the night, disrupted vehicular traffic on the Ghat Road.
With the cooperation of locals, the mud and stones were cleared, allowing traffic to resume. However, the disruption caused significant delays, with vehicles backed up at the ghats.

Hubballi: Keshwapur Police have filed FIR against Congress Hubballi unit member and corporator Suvarna Kalakuntla and eight other people in connection with the assault on BJP activist Sujatha Handi recently.
The nine people are also accused of involvement in the ruckus during the mapping of families prior to the special intensive revision (SIR) in Chalukya Nagar on January 2.
The FIR was filed by Keshwapur Police based on a complaint given by Handi’s brother Mariya Das, accusing Kalakuntla and the others of assault, attempt to murder, issuing a death threat and giving rise to chaos.
Earlier, Handi had been arrested by the police based on a complaint filed by Kalakuntla. The BJP member had also alleged that police officials had ripped her clothes while arresting her and assaulted her.
Mariya Das had filed the police complaint on Wednesday in connection with the SIR incident. He told the police that, on January 2 afternoon, Peethalu, David Lunjala, Jnanesh and Nirmala, among others had assaulted his sister Sujatha Handi with an attempt to kill her. He added that Lunjala and Prashanth Bommaji had tried to strip his sister and mother before issuing a death threat.
Based on the complaint, the police have filed the FIR against the nine people, Kalakuntla, Peethalu, Lunjala, Jnanesh, Nirmala, Prashanth, Sidrak, Johnny and Jasin, and are investigating the matter.
