Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has issued an order instructing to relax the lockdown in the district from May 4, between 7 am to 7 pm.
Accordingly, conditional permission has been granted for auto rickshaw and cab movement across the district. Auto rickshaw and cab aggregators are permitted, with driver and two passengers only. Private cars will have a maximum of two passengers besides the driver while Pillion riding will be allowed on two-wheelers.
Standalone shops, shops located in the neighborhood colony, residential complex are allowed to operate. Private organisations can function with 33% of staff. E-commerce activities are permitted but only for essential goods. Markets and shops in the markets can be opened only if they are serving with essential goods.
Hotels, bars, restaurants, malls, theaters, gym, sports complexes, clubs, swimming pools, parks, salons, spas, beauty parlors, textile, and clothing stores will remain closed.
Similarly, all social, religious, cultural programs and other congregational programmes are banned. All types of traffic movement will be banned from 7 pm to 7 am.
There was pressure to allow textile shops to open in view of Ramzan and Eid ul Fitr. But Muslim community of Dakshina Kannada has stressed that textile shops should be opened only after Ramzan and Eid ul Fitr. Now the district administration has not allowed these shops to open till lockdown ends.

Thane (PTI): Authorities have seized illegally stored 1,839 gas cylinders and seven vehicles worth over Rs 67 lakh in the Dombivli MIDC area of Thane district, officials said on Saturday.
A special vigilance team of the Mumbai Rationing Department detected an illegal storage of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in Phase-2 of Dombivli (East).
Cylinders belonging to multiple gas agencies were found stockpiled in closed vehicles, unauthorised warehouses, and open sheds without mandatory permissions from the Explosives Department, Fire Department, or oil companies, according to an official release.
