Lodge at Pumpwell raided, 6 Bangla girls rescued
Mangaluru: Police conducted a raid at an inn in Pumpwell here on Friday and arrested several persons who were indulged in the prostitution business. Meanwhile, six Bangla girls were rescued in operation.
Hotel Annapoorna located at Pumpwell was raided on Friday morning based on specific information. In connection with this case, the police have arrested several persons including a 26-year-old Belthangady resident Pavan. According to police, the prime accused Shivaram Pujari is absconding.
Mysuru-based Odanadi Samstha which fights against human trafficking and a Child Line Sansthe gave a tipoff to the police.
It has been reported that the prostitution was in place at a secret room on the 3rd floor of the hotel. Six girls were found in this room when the police conducted the raid. Four minor girls said to have escaped during the attack.
The police seized Bangla currency, mobile phones during the raid.
More than 15 persons have been taken into custody and inquiry is on.

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
