Mangaluru, Aug.19: A man was tied to a pole and thrashed by a mob in Gurukambala here suspecting him to be a child kidnapper. The incident took place at Guru Kambala here on Sunday, August 19.

The victim was Hamza (63), resident of Kankanady. Hamza visited the houses in Guru Ambala to raise money to pay his friend's debt that he took during his sister's marriage. A group noticing him suspected him to be a child lifter and attacked him, police said.

Police rushed to the spot and managed to save Hamza from attackers. He was sent home after treatment. A case has been filed in Bajpe police station.

Bengaluru, Apr 26: BJP leader CT Ravi was on Friday booked for allegedly promoting hatred and enmity between citizens through his social media post, the Election Commission said.

The action was initiated by the election officials of Chikkamagaluru, they said.

Taking to 'X', the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer said Chikkamagaluru election Officials have booked an FIR against CT Ravi for his post on X for violation under the Representation of the People Act and 505(2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) of the Indian Penal Code in Basavanahalli police station for allegedly promoting hatred and enmity between different classes of citizens.
