Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District on Tuesday reported 316 fresh cases of COVID-19. The district also reported five COVID related deaths in the last 24 hours.

Of the five patients who succumbed to the virus on Tuesday, three were from Mangaluru Taluk and one each from Bantwal and Puttur. With this, the total number of fatalities due to the virus in the district has gone up to 452.

Of the 316 patients who tested positive for the virus on Tuesday, 148 were from Mangaluru Taluk, 44 from Bantwal, 42 from Puttur, Sullia 20, Belthangady 37, and 25 were from other districts. With this, the total number of cases reported in the district has gone up to 18, 092.

The district also recorded 322 recoveries. With 13,606 recoveries the district currently has 4,034 active cases of the virus.

Mangaluru: Bearys Institute of Technology has won the best project award for the year 2019-20,   conducted by Karnataka State Council For Science And Technology (KSCST).

The award was conferred on the eve of 43rd Series of Student Project Programme in the Civil category, for the project “Assessment of Green Bearys Arena By 6D Building Information Modeling Compared With Conventional Method” by the students of final year Noman Ashraf, Mohd Arslan Azad, Shahnaz P.J and Nafeesa Suhaila. 

The project was guided by Prof. Zaheer Ahmed Faculty of Civil department. 

The Chairman of Bearys Group, Mr Syed Mohamed Beary and Principal of BIT Dr. S I Manjur Basha congratulated both the students and guide for achieving the milestone.
