Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Sindhu B Rupesh on Thursday declared the area of 'First Neuro Hospital', Kannur Village in Padil, Mangaluru as a COVID-19 containment zone.
In an official statement, the Deputy Commissioner asserted that in exercise of power delegated to her as the chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority and under Epidemic Disease Act 1897 by State Government, she confirmed that the area was declared Active Containment Zone for a COVID-19 patient.
The statement informed that the containment area was bound by boundaries; Kannada Gudde, Mangaluru City Corporation Road on East, Ramanatha Kripa Rice Mill on West, Bengaluru National Highway 75 on North and Government Gutter on South.
The containment zone covers two residential houses and five commercial shops with total population in area at 16 people. It also stated that a further area of five Kilometres was flagged as Buffer Zone.
The buffer zone is bound by boundaries; Kallapu on East, Kudupu on West, Farangipete on North and Falnir on South. The buffer zone covers 41,900 residential houses, 1808 shops and 1,82,500 people's population.
Tahsildar and Taluka Magistrate have been appointed as Incident Commander of these zones and have been asked to take decisions required for the implementations of Covid-19 virus control measures.

Defending 195, Hyderabad restricted struggling CSK to 184 for eight. CSK have crashed to fourth defeat in six matches.
Abhishek Sharma (59) and Heinrich Klaasen (59) took CSK to 194 for nine with their splendid batting. For CSK, Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj picked up three wickets apiece while Mukesh Choudhary bagged two.
