Mangaluru: Local police on Saturday arrested four people allegedly smuggling cattle illegally to Kerala from Haryana and seized 24 buffaloes from them near Nanthoor in the city.
The arrested accused have been identified as Rajendra, Kamal Kumar, Sanjay Kumar and Jai Kisan of Haryana.
Working on a credential information the police intercepted their truck and made the arrests.
"The buffaloes were being transported to Pajiru Gau-Shala in Mangaluru after being rescued by cow vigilantes," said police.
Mangaluru East (Kadri) Police Inspector Shantaram, PSI Maruthi, Narendra and other constables were part of the operation.

New Delhi (PTI): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced results for Class 10 board exams, officials said.
"The results have been declared," a senior board official said.
The CBSE started with two editions of board exams for Class 10 from this year. It was mandatory for students to appear in the first edition, the results of which have been declared.
