Mangaluru: Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha State Committee on Sunday celebrated the birth anniversary of Nathuram Godse in Mangaluru amid controversies.

The matter about Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse, which is constantly being debated after Independence, was on frontline during the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. Actor Kamal Haasan's claim that Nathuram Godse was the first Hindu extremist of independent India, had sparked political discourse.

Also, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel had given a controversial statement in favor of Godse and later sought an apology.

Amidst this, the members of Hindu Sabha have celebrated the birth anniversary of Nathuram Godse.

The Hindu Mahasabha's Suvarna, Rajesh, Dharmendra, and others were present at the programme. There has been widespread outrage on social networking sites to take action against the organizers of the programme.
