Mangaluru: Chaos erupted during a protest organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Hindu Protection Committee near the Clock Tower in Mangaluru on Thursday morning, as Hindutva activists attempted to assault journalists covering the event.

The protest was held to demand the protection of Hindus in Bangladesh. Tensions rose when activists pushed through police barricades and tried to block the road. Police intervened to stop the blockade, leading to a heated verbal exchange between the protesters and law enforcement.

During the commotion, the protesters directed their anger toward journalists present at the site. A video journalist from a private news channel was reportedly pushed and faced an attempted assault by some activists.

Following the incident, journalists decided to boycott the coverage of the protest and left the location in protest of the aggression.
