Mangaluru : Jackfruit festival tickled taste buds
Mangaluru, July 15: Mangalurians have a special Sunday today to taste the taste jackfruit payasam, ice cream, bajji and other food items at a jackfruits festival organized by the Organic Farmers Consumers Forum at Balambhat Auditorium here.
The jackfruits festival is attracting people in large number since morning. Exhibition and sales of different varieties of jackfruits, food items made out of jackfruits, sales of saplings of fruits and flowers and decorative plants was also organized on the occasion. Fruits lovers tasted the different food items made out of jackfruits and enjoyed. Payasam made out of jackfruits seeds, ice creams, halva, holige, papad, podi, bajji, gatti and other items made from jackfruits attracted the people.
People also purchased different varieties of jackfruit like Tuluva, Barke, Rudrakshi, Chandra and others on the occasion.

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
