Mangaluru: In a tragic incident near the tree park at Thannirbavi in Mangaluru, a 41-year-old man lost his life after being stabbed by his colleague during a heated altercation on Sunday morning.

The victim, identified as Binu from Kollam, Kerala, was employed at a boat manufacturing company located near the Thannirbavi tree park. The assailant, Johnson, also known as Binoy, a 52-year-old native of Tallipparamb in Kannur district, Kerala, allegedly attacked Binu with a knife. The motive behind the stabbing was reported to be a personal dispute that escalated after a clash between the two on Saturday.

Both Binu and Johnson, who were colleagues sharing the same residential area, had a disagreement on a personal matter. The situation took a violent turn when Johnson, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, visited Binu the following day and fatally stabbed him in a fit of rage.

The Panambur Police Station has registered a case, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway. Police officials visited the crime scene at Thannirbavi for a thorough inspection. The body of the deceased has been transferred to a local hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Mumbai (PTI): The Mumbai police have registered a case against a man for allegedly duping seven persons of Rs 91 lakhs on the promise of awarding them works of different government departments, an official said on Tuesday.

The accused was identified as Satish Kadam, a resident of Nanded in Marathwada region, an official said.

A complaint was filed by Hanumant Vadje, who alleged that the accused cheated him and six others of around Rs 91 lakh by promising to give them various works of Urban Development and Social Justice Department, he said.

The fraud occurred between 2024 and 2026, with Kadam collecting money in cash and into his accounts, police said, adding he had returned some amount to them partially.

Multiple cheques issued by the accused bounced, prompting the victim to lodge a complaint at the Marine Drive police station. Based on the complaint, a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust was registered against him.

The case is under further investigation, the official said.
