Mangaluru: Man who threatened toll operator with gun, sent to 15-day judicial custody
Mangaluru: The District Court on Friday sent Rafiq, accused of threatening toll gate operator with a gun to 15-day judicial custody when he was produced before the magistrate.
Rafiq K N P (36) a resident of Kasargod was on Thursday arrested for allegedly pointing gun at toll operator at NITK toll gate in Surathkal while refusing to pay toll charges.
Accused was on his way to Byndoor from Kasargod when the incident took place. He has been booked under section 506 (2) of IPC and column 25 of Indian Arms Act.
His gun and car were also seized during his arrest on Thursday afternoon.

Yogish Goudar murder case: Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, 16 others sentenced to life imprisonment

Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives has sentenced Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 16 others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogish Goudar.
The verdict was delivered by judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat. The court had earlier, on Wednesday, held all 17 accused guilty of murdering Goudar, while reserving the quantum of punishment.
On Friday, the court pronounced the sentence, awarding life imprisonment to all the convicted persons in the case.
Yogish Goudar, a BJP member from the Hebballi Zilla Panchayat constituency in Dharwad district, was murdered in 2016.
