Mangaluru: BJP workers on Tuesday clashed with Congress leader and MLC Ivan D’Souza for the latter’s presence at the entrance gate of Jeppu Polling Booth in the city when the voting was underway for MCC election here in the city.
According to the reports the BJP workers were objecting to Ivan’s presence at the booth as he was an elected representative and alleged that he was influencing voters to vote for Congress at the entrance of the gate. BJP workers also added that they will call their MPs and MLAs to the spot if Ivan doesn’t move out.
The two parties got into a verbal duel before police and election officials reached the spot and intervened to disperse the crowd of both the parties.
