Mangaluru: A group of miscreants assaulted students near Ballalbag private college on Thursday afternoon.

The victims are Mohammed Rafi (19), a resident of Vittla; and Derakatte resident Sharafuddin (19).

Both the students were pursuing B.Sc interior designing from a private college in the City.

"On March 6, I found a drawing sheet on a college corridor. I went on asking to whom this sheet belongs to? Finally, a girl student said that the drawing sheet was belonging to her. She then blamed that I stole her sheet and used foul language," injured Sharafuddin said.

"I told her not to use such language. Fumed by this, she called up a youth, who is said to be her lover, and informed the incident to him. The youth, along with a group, came near the college and assaulted Rafi and me. When asked why you are beating us, they did not tell anything and hit us on head, face, and back," Sharafuddin complained.

The injured are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the City. Barke and Pandeshwar police have visited the hospital collecting the information.
