Mangaluru North Constituency: CPM candidate Muneer Kattipalla files nomination
Mangaluru: CPM candidate Muneer Kattipalla on Thursday filed his nomination from Mangaluru City North Constituency.
Speaking after the submission, Muneer said that there was no question of spending money. While there are many government hospitals and colleges in the district, Suratkal area does not have a single government hospital and college.
“The representatives here represent businessmen, but I am representing poor people,” he alleged.

Yogish Goudar murder case: Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, 16 others sentenced to life imprisonment

Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives has sentenced Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 16 others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogish Goudar.
The verdict was delivered by judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat. The court had earlier, on Wednesday, held all 17 accused guilty of murdering Goudar, while reserving the quantum of punishment.
On Friday, the court pronounced the sentence, awarding life imprisonment to all the convicted persons in the case.
Yogish Goudar, a BJP member from the Hebballi Zilla Panchayat constituency in Dharwad district, was murdered in 2016.
