Mangaluru: The Cyber, Economic and Narcotics Crime (CEN) police in Mangaluru have arrested 25-year-old Gaurav Makwan, a resident of Delhi, in connection with a cyber fraud case involving the unauthorized use of a Flipkart account.

According to the police, the victim, Yadunandan, received a suspicious message on WhatsApp, which led to his Flipkart account being hacked while he was downloading an app. The cybercriminals allegedly used the hacked account to purchase two mobile phones and gift vouchers worth ₹1.31 lakh. Following the incident, Yadunandan filed a complaint at the CEN police station.

During the investigation, Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurappakanti and Police Constable Tippareddy apprehended Gaurav Makwan in Delhi. Assets worth ₹4 lakh were seized from the accused, including an Android phone, an iPhone, AirPods, and the mobile device used in the crime.

The accused was presented in court, which subsequently remanded him to judicial custody.

Virudhunagar (PTI): More than 10 workers were feared dead following a blast in a firecrackers manufacturing unit near here and some others were severely injured, police said.

The blast occurred when about 30 workers were engaged in routine manufacturing related processes at the firecrackers unit at Kattanarpatti near here, they said adding portions of the building too collapsed under the impact.
