Mangaluru: Seven more patients being treated at private and government hospitals in the city succumbed to the virus on Thursday. With this, the district has neared the three-figure mark in total fatalities due to the virus. The total number of deaths in the district currently stands at 99.

Of the seven patients who died on Thursday, six patents were men and one woman.

The district also reported 218 new cases of the virus including 39 patients above 60 years of age and 7 kids below the age of 10 years.

118 people also recovered from the virus and were discharged from the hospital. The district has so far reported 4214 cases of virus of which 1862 patients have recovered while there are 2253 active cases currently.

Kalaburagi: A man was found dead, with his body seen hanging, in his own field in Hulasaguda village of Kalagi taluk on Saturday morning. The cause for death is unknown as yet.

The deceased, identified as Revanasiddhappa Shettappa (26), is learned to have been a resident of Hulasaguda village.

Ratkal Police Sub-inspector Sheela Devi reportedly visited the spot where the man’s body was found and inspected it.

Police have registered a case in this regard and are probing the death of the Shettappa.
