Mangaluru: Students of Yenepoya School, Mangaluru who participated in the CBSE South Zone Swimming Competition were on Tuesday felicitated for their remarkable performances at the competition. The competition was held in Bengaluru from 26-29 September.

Trained by Rajesh Bengre and Yashodha G Bhandary, the students Wafi Abdul Hakeem, K Janani and Vindya G Bhandary secured 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals at the event. The winners will now take part at the National level competition set to be held at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

The students were felicitated at the school campus by Principal, Joseph Mechirath, Campus Director Mishria Javeed and Vice Principal Reshma Nayak.

The CBSE South Zone comprises of Maharashtra, Kerala, Goa and Karnataka states.

Hyderabad (PTI): A fire broke out at a shopping mall in Jubilee Hills area here on Thursday, though no one was injured in the incident, police and Fire department officials said.

The fire started at around 11.20 AM in the building, housing a saree showroom and other garment outlets, where renovation work was going on, they said, adding five workers, who were inside were brought out.

Three fire tenders were pressed into service and the blaze was extinguished. TV visuals showed flames erupting and thick smoke emanating from the exterior of the building.

"The building was vacant and there was no material inside. The fire has been brought under control. No one was injured in the incident," a fire department official said.

The exact cause of the blaze was under investigation, he said.
