Mangaluru: In an incident reported from near Morgans gate in the city, four dead bodies of members of a single family were recovered from their home, and suicide is suspected.
Along with the bodies of two children, the bodies of their parents were also recovered from their house at Morgans Street, when the incident reportedly came to light on Wednesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Nagesh Sheriguppi (30), his wife Vijayalaxmi (26), the couple’s children Sapna (8), and Samanth (4). The family was originally from Bilagi Bagalkot, it is learned.
While the bodies of the mother and the two children were found in the state of having consumed poison, the body of the father was found hanging from the ceiling. It is learned that Nagesh was working as a driver, and Vijayalaxmi was employed as security staff.
The reason behind the apparent suicide is yet to be ascertained. Mangaluru City Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar accompanied by police staff visited the site and an investigation is underway.

Mumbai (PTI): The Mumbai police have registered a case against a man for allegedly duping seven persons of Rs 91 lakhs on the promise of awarding them works of different government departments, an official said on Tuesday.
The accused was identified as Satish Kadam, a resident of Nanded in Marathwada region, an official said.
A complaint was filed by Hanumant Vadje, who alleged that the accused cheated him and six others of around Rs 91 lakh by promising to give them various works of Urban Development and Social Justice Department, he said.
The fraud occurred between 2024 and 2026, with Kadam collecting money in cash and into his accounts, police said, adding he had returned some amount to them partially.
Multiple cheques issued by the accused bounced, prompting the victim to lodge a complaint at the Marine Drive police station. Based on the complaint, a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust was registered against him.
The case is under further investigation, the official said.
