Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District on Monday reported five COVID-19 related deaths including that of a two-month-old baby, who succumbed to the virus at a private hospital in the city here.
With this, the total number of fatalities due to the virus in the district has gone up to 82, including 13 patients who came from other districts.

On Monday, two people from Mangaluru Taluk, and one each from Belthangady, Bantwal Taluks and one from Chikkamagaluru District passed away due to the deadly virus in the district.
The two-month-old baby, hailing from Bantwal Taluk was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru due to high fever, breathing problems, and vomiting on July 17. Failing to respond to the treatment the baby breathed last on Monday due to multiple organs failure.

The district also reported 89 fresh cases of the virus on Monday taking the total number of cases reported in the district to 3,685. 57 COVID-19 patients getting treatment at various hospitals across the district were on Monday discharged after recovery.
The district currently has 2,055 active cases.

New Delhi (PTI): A Leh-bound SpiceJet aircraft returned to the national capital due to an engine issue on Tuesday morning, according to a source.
There were around 150 people on board the Boeing 737 aircraft that was operating the flight SG121, the source added.
When contacted, a SpiceJet spokesperson said a flight operating from Delhi to Leh on Tuesday returned to Delhi after experiencing a technical issue.
"The aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers were disembarked normally," the spokesperson said in a statement.
The source said the aircraft suffered an engine issue.
