Mangaluru: The Valedictory Ceremony for the outgoing students of Presidency School and PU College Mangalore was organized on Saturday evening at its campus here in Kelarai, Neermarga in the city.

Amarnath SS Bhandari, SP, Excise Department was present as the Chief Guest of the event along with Suhael Ahmed, Vice Chairman - Presidency Group of Institutions.

The event began with the Valedictory march by the outgoing students, followed by a recitation of verses from the Holy Scriptures of the Quran, Bible, and Bhagavad Gita.

Speaking at the ceremony the Principal of the institution Shaila Saldanha spoke about the progress the institution has been able to make with the cooperation of the outgoing students. She also shed light on the challenges the college and students faced during the pandemic and how they together managed to sail through those challenges.

She also appreciated the outgoing batches and congratulated them on successfully navigating through their school and pre-university years. She also wished them luck in their endeavors in the future.

The institution also made a nostalgic presentation for the students, themed "memories" a collection of visuals and photographs of the outgoing batches and moments from their journey on the campus.

The International, National, and State level award winners and academic, sports, and cultural achievers of Presidency School & PU College Mangalore were also felicitated during the ceremony.

Akhilesh Kuckian, HOD Commerce Department, welcomed the guests, Preethi J Saldanha and Ms. Angaline Dsouza compered the event while Suraksha presented a vote of thanks.

Management Co-ordinator, Javed Lathif, Principal, Shaila Saldanha, COD’s Ayesha Ilham, Anand Prasad, and Suman Shetty were present during the event.

Pilibhit (PTI): A 19-day-old elephant calf, brought from Bijnor, was placed under care at the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) on Sunday, an official said and added that the calf got separated from its mother in the forest area of Bijnor.

The calf was born on December 2 in the Bijnor forest area and got separated from its mother shortly after birth, the official said.

The forest department made several attempts to reunite it with its mother, but without any success. To ensure the calf's safety and better care, it was decided to transfer it to the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve on the instructions of senior officials.

On Saturday, Deputy Director Manish Singh received the calf. Special arrangements have been made in the reserve for its care. It has been kept in a safe and clean environment to provide it with a natural setting and protect it from external noise and disturbances.

Singh told reporters that raising an 19-day-old calf is challenging.

It requires a special diet as a substitute for mother's milk and constant monitoring.

He said a special team has been formed to provide 24-hour care. Since the calf is very young, it is being cared for like a newborn baby.

According to Singh, the primary responsibility for monitoring the calf's health has been entrusted to PTR's veterinarian, Dr Daksh Gangwar. Under his supervision, a complete record of the calf's health checkups, diet, and body temperature is being maintained. The team is ensuring that the calf does not contract any infection.
