Mangaluru:Fire Department staff dies in road accident, his wife commits suicide after killing infant
Mangaluru: In an unfortunate accident that occurred on Saturday night, a fire station driver was killed on the spot after colliding with a car near Kuntikana here.
The deceased has been identified as Gangadgar B Kammara (36), who served as the driver of a fire tender in Mangaluru here.
After learning about the tragic accident, the deceased’s wife Shruthi (30) reportedly committed suicide after killing their 6-month-old infant, sources said. The incident was reported in the Lingasuguru jurisdiction, Raichur, it is learned.
The Mangaluru Traffic Police have registered a case in this regard.

CPI stalwart Nallakannu dead
Chennai (PTI): Veteran leader of the CPI, R Nallakannu died here on Wednesday, the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital said.
He was aged about 101, party sources said.
A hospital bulletin said, despite intensive care, he passed away at 1.55 PM on February 25, 2026 following failure of all vital organs.
