Bhatkal: In a major upset for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the ongoing Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, Mankal Vaidya of the Congress party has emerged victorious from the Bhatkal-Honnavar constituency.

Vaidya defeated BJP's Sunil Naik, a former minister in the state government, in a closely contested battle. The Bhatkal-Honnavar constituency is located in the Uttara Kannada district of the state.

The Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023 have been fiercely contested, with several high-profile leaders from various political parties vying for a place in the state assembly. As the counting process continues across various centers in the state, the final results are eagerly awaited.

Udupi: A case has been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station after miscreants created a fake account on social media platforms using the name of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojari and demanded money.

The complaint states that the accused misused the MP's photo to create a fake account on Instagram and sought money from the public.

MP Poojari's advocate, Shyamsundar Nayari, has urged the police to take appropriate legal action against those involved, alleging that the fake accounts were created with the intention of illegally obtaining money and damaging the MP’s reputation.
