Many injured as bus topples in Karkala
Karkala, July 12: Twenty passengers sustained injuries when a private bus travelling from Karkala to Padubidri toppled near Nandalike on Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place while the bus was negotiating a turn in Nandalike. The driver lost control over the vehicle in the turn and as a result the bus turned turtle.
Conductor of the bus, Rajesh and another passenger is critically injured in the incident. Driver Chetan, passengers Muktha Prabhu from Sanoor, Suraj from Bajagoli and Deeksha from Sooda, Bhaskar, Aarati and Nagesh have been admitted to hospitals in Manipal and Karkala.
Many other passengers sustained minor injuries. A case has been filed in Karkala rural police station.

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
