Monsoon claims its first victim in Mangaluru
Mangaluru, May 29: An elderly woman died after the compound wall behind her house collapsed due to incessant rain in Mangaluru on Tuesday.
Mohini (60), a resident of Udayanagar near KPT is the deceased lady. Due to heavy rain on Tuesday the compound wall behind her house was collapsed at around 11 am and Mohini was buried under the mud.
Mangaluru east police, fire personal and locals rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. After a long rescue operation, by the time Mohini was taken out of the mud she had already breathed her last.
As the road leading to Mohini's house was very narrow fire brigade vehicles and other four wheelers could not reach the spot. This effected the rescue operation that ended with the death of elderly lady, locals said.

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
