Mangaluru: BJP Karnataka State President Nalin Kumar Kateel on Thursday, criticized the state government's decision to release River Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, citing concerns for Karnataka's farmers. Kateel expressed his discontent, stating that the government's actions do not reflect a genuine commitment to the welfare of Karnataka's agricultural community.
Speaking to the reporters in the city on Thursday, Kateel voiced his concerns, stating, "The state is grappling with a severe water scarcity, which has further exacerbated the power supply shortage. This has adversely impacted farmers who are unable to operate their pump sets to extract water from borewells."

He emphasized, "The Congress had previously promised unconditional guarantee schemes to the public before the Assembly elections. However, the current government has introduced various conditions for accessing these schemes." Kateel went on to add, "The state is currently facing an energy crisis, which can be attributed to the inefficiencies of the Congress government's 'Gruha Jyoti' scheme."
